Multistory : The Printing Room





Issue 1: From Where I Speak
“Else” is a meditation on the process of making art, its origins, and my relationship to it. It explores what happens and what questions arise when outside factors from the “art world” enter that intimate relationship.

“The Printing Room is a new annual commission for local emerging artists to experiment with their writing. For this first issue seven artists were commissioned to write pieces; Marley Starskey Butler, Polly Brant, Amelia Fox, Neoliberalizard, Rupinder Kaur Waraich, Rachel Magdeburg and Leah Hickey. Writers explored the Black Country’s stories and socio-political conditions, and their own experiences of forging an arts practice within an area that has historically been underfunded. The programme was supported through a workshop led by Maria Fusco focussing on art writing and critical auto-theory / fiction. Multistory
