PhD

In February 2026, Marley Starskey Butler began a practice-based PhD at Birmingham City University’s School of Art, following the award of the Gertrude Aston Bowater PhD Award.








The project, is currently titled The Children's Social Care Record as an Affective Object Encountered Through Art Practice.







It is supervised by Dr Becky Shaw (Director of Studies), alongside Dr Lisa Metherell and Jaskirt Boora
